Middle of Nowhere

I walk the streets of town getting nowhere - ‘cept older.
Each winter here seems to me a little bit - colder.
It’s a fine line, walking on the edge but not - over.
With the boss man always looking over my shoulder.

This here dead end job’s like a prison wall I can’t - break down.
With every sunrise, I meet another day head on - still bound.
By the hopelessness that drives my soul towards the stone - cold ground.
Can’t slip the chains that bind me here in the middle of nowhere town.


One day I’m gonna wake up, good and fed up, and stick my thumb out in the wind.
I’ll put this world behind me, and try to find me, a descent place worth living in.
I’ll thumb it down the highway, going my way, you know I’m never looking back.
I’ll make up for the hard times, and maybe I’ll find, the peace of mind I never had…
In this middle of nowhere town.

They say hindsight’s 20/20 but it seems – I’m blind.
I don’t learn, from my mistakes, I’m going out of – my mind.
I try to change my ways but everyday becomes the same – old grind.
Stuck in a rut for sure, and that’s where I’ve been for too long a time.

How I wound up here don’t matter I’ve just got to get – away.
No holding back, I’m gonna go for broke and make a – clean break.
For my sanity and state of mind I now see that I – can’t stay.
In this mixed up town in the middle of nowhere another day.
